The 5K is fun. Running your first 5k is exciting. And the training for the 5K is no different.
You’ll experience so many different emotions, excited, nervous, anxious, I can keep listing them. But before we lace up and head to the starting line, I have a very easy and fun training program to guide you to running your first 5k. And you’ll be sure to take the starting line excited and ready to have some fun on your way to the finish line.
Every training week in this plan has an even balance of strength/cross training as well as active recovery. This plan was designed around an 8-week schedule, and built to adapt to your beginner experience level and intended to be uniquely flexible to your needs and daily life. Whether you’re four or eight weeks from race day, you can jump into this program whenever you’d like to.
You are in control of what you put into the program and therefore what you get out of it.
My recommendation: If you have never ran before, plan on training for at least 8 weeks before the 5K so you can comfortably run and complete the programmed workouts without injury.
